Willard New East Entrance

Willard Hall is under renovation from August 2016-December 2017. The building is scheduled to be open for Winter Quarter (January 2018).  The Willard Hall renovation is part of the Housing Master Plan and will open with the second Engagement Center, serving the Southwest Neighborhood.  As a part of the renovation, this building will require new mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The building will provide air conditioning to all sleeping rooms and public spaces.  New roofing and exterior tuck-pointing will update the building’s exterior.  The entrance to the building is being relocated to the former dining hall which will allow for a grand entrance into the building.

Below is an outline of the project by floor:

Basement:

The entrance to the building will be located to this area.  Students will enter the building at grade level and walk down a monumental staircase to the lower level into the Engagement Center.  A redesigned Fran’s Café will provide students with full menu service and snacks.  The space will also host a front-desk operation, classrooms, meeting rooms, mail center, a mini-fitness center, and a collaboration room.

First Floor:

A faculty apartment will be located on this level along with a spacious lounge and rotating office space. Sleeping rooms will have updated finishes and individual air condition/heating units.  New furniture will be provided.  A laundry room will be located on each occupied floor.  Floor bathrooms will be completely renovated and updated to reflect the Residential Services design standards.

Second-Fifth Floors:

Sleeping rooms will have updated finishes and individual air condition/heating units.  New furniture will be provided.  A laundry room will be located on each occupied floor.  Floor bathrooms will be completely renovated and updated to reflect the Residential Services design standards. The Fifth floor will also have a small lounge (where laundry room was originally) for the occupants of that floor.
