For the 2015-2016 school year, the Shepard Hall had underwent renovations as part of the Northwestern Housing Master Plan. The building has reopened for the Fall 2016 quarter. An outline of the renovations completed are listed below:

Basement Floor:

  • Create new bathroom facilities
  • Demolish all spaces to create flexible community spaces, including:
    • performance spaces
    • quiet study rooms
    • kitchen and pantry space
    • classroom and lecture seating
    • computer rooms
    • office areas
    • a meditation/prayer room

1st Floor:

  • Demolish all spaces to create new community areas, including:
    • quiet study rooms
    • office areas
    • classroom and lecture seating
    • pantries
    • lounge areas
  • Rooms have been renovated and updated, but have not changed from their original format.
    * Previously stated: old spaces were being transformed into new accessible 1 and 2-bedroom, 1-bath suites. These changes were not implemented in Shepard.
  • Build a new faculty apartment with bedroom, study, kitchen, and living areas

2nd-4th Floors:

  • Replace flooring, fixtures, paint, and furniture in all bedrooms and corridors
  • Renovate all bathroom spaces

Outside Exterior:

  • Demolish the exterior passageway to make way for increased indoor space
