Purple Posse

Overview of Position

The Purple Posse prepares to help new students move in.University Residential Life (URL) is seeking student volunteers to assist new students and their families during Wildcat Welcome residence hall/college move in the day of New Student Move-In.

As a Purple Posse volunteer you will show incoming students and their families that you care! It is also a great way to help promote the name of your favorite student group. To learn more about this opportunity, information sessions will be held in the Spring 2013 Quarter.

Selection Criteria

Qualified candidates must be able to:

  • Lift and carry heavy items;
  • Attend the mandatory Purple Posse Orientation meeting on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.;
  • Move into on-campus housing on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, and attend training from 6 pm to 9 pm that night; and
  • Work one 7-hour shift on Thursday, September 20, 2012, (approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) with a lunch break and a rest break, and work one 4-hour shift on Monday, September 24, 2012.
  • Must be in good conduct standing with Northwestern University

Note: Preference will be given to students living in University residence halls or residential colleges.

Participation incentives

Volunteers will be permitted early admission into their residence hall or residential college on the day before New Student Move-In (September 19, 2012, after 1:00 p.m.). All volunteers will receive a free Purple Posse t-shirt. Students who complete all of their volunteer hours will have their University room fees waived for Wildcat Welcome week. Other participation incentives will be discussed at the information session.
