Video Submission Procedures
Community Assistant Video Submission Procedures
In fall 2009, Residential Life introduced a new element to our CA application process. In addition to completing an online application we asked applicants to submit a one-minute video explaining why they want to be a CA. The video submissions were such a hit, we have made them a part of our application process ever since. The guidelines are simple! Create a one-minute video telling us why you want to be a CA. You can sing a song, do a skit, or just talk to the camera. Show us your creativity and enthusiasm. The videos are due at the same time as the application and references: January 11, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.
Option 1: Post your video to YouTube and send the link to us.
If you do not already have a YouTube account, create an account and post your video to the account. If you are worried about privacy and the fact that other candidates could search for your video, use a nonsensical name or series of letters and numbers that will reduce the likelihood of others viewing the video. We recommend that you do not use your name or "CA Candidate" or "Res Life" in the name of your video. Send us the link to your video by emailing it to a-tubbin@northwestern.edu.
Option 2: Save your video on a CD/DVD
Save your video on a CD, DVD or USB drive and drop if off to University Residential Life (south campus: 601 University Place, room 10 Scott Hall) anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Be sure to write your complete name on your CD, DVD or jump drive. If we cannot open the file, we will contact you and ask if you can provide the file in another format. CA candidates who are not current NU students should contact res-life@northwestern.edu for further instructions regarding how to submit their video. We look forward to seeing your videos!
Option 3: I do not want to create a video!
That’s OK, we will not count this decision against you. If you do not create a video, you may answer an additional essay question in the application.
