Video Submission Procedures
Since fall 2009, we have asked CA candidates to submit a one-minute video explaining why they want to be a CA. The videos give us a glimpse into each candidate's creativity, public speaking skills and ability to move outside of their comfort zone. The guidelines are simple! Create a one-minute video telling us why you want to be a CA. You can sing a song, perform a skit, or just talk to the camera. Show us your creativity and enthusiasm! The videos are due at the same time as the application and references.
Option 1: Post your video to YouTube and submit the url link in your CA application
If you do not already have a YouTube account, create an account and post your video to the account. If you are worried about privacy or the fact that other candidates could search for your video, use a nonsensical name or series of letters and numbers that will reduce the likelihood of others viewing the video. We recommend that you do not use your name or "CA Candidate" or “Northwestern” in the name of your video. You will be able to include the YouTube link to your video in your CA application.
Option 2: Save your video on a CD/DVD or USB drive
Save your video on a CD, DVD or USB drive and drop if off to the Residential Services office (601 University Place, room 10 Scott Hall) anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Be sure to write your complete name on your CD, DVD or USB drive. If we cannot open the file, we will contact you and ask you to provide the file in another format. CA candidates who are not current NU students should contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further instructions regarding how to submit their video.
We look forward to seeing your video!
