The Law & Society Workshop is an exciting forum for the
exchange of ideas between graduate students and established
legal scholars. In this workshop, scholars and students combine
the study of legal issues with the methodology and perspectives
of the social sciences and humanities. Everyone with interests
in this area is welcome to participate in the workshop. We
meet three times each quarter, and feature guest speakers
and student presentations. Among the presenters last year
were: Kristin Bumiller (Amherst), Stuart Scheingold (U of
Washington), Bruce Carruthers (Northwestern University) and
Benjamin Frommer (Northwestern University).
In 2002-2003, the workshop was run by Aaron Beim, a Sociology
graduate student. Among the presenters were:
Kristin Bumiller (Amherst), Stuart Scheingold (U of Washington),
Bruce Carruthers (NU), and Benjamin Frommer (NU).
In 2003-2004, the workshop was run by Sociology graduate
students Heather
Schoenfeld and Gabrielle
Ferrales.
