Certificate Program in Law and Social Science
    Last updated 10/09/2006

The Certificate Program in Law and Social Science is an interdisciplinary program that capitalizes on the growing intellectual and policy significance of law in domestic and international affairs, and advances the use of social science in the study of legal processes and institutions.

The Program provides graduate students in the social sciences with an opportunity to earn a certificate in Law and Social Science, awarded separately from their academic degrees.

The Certificate Program brings together the research staff of the American Bar Foundation, one of the leading institutions for the empirical study of law in the United States, with the students and faculty of Northwestern's Graduate School and Law School.

The program is housed on Northwestern's Chicago campus and at the adjoining offices of the American Bar Foundation. See Visiting the Northwestern Law Campus for maps and other information about the Chicago campus, and information on transportation between Evanston and Chicago.

Students in the Certificate Program enroll in four courses on law and social science offered at the Law School, and engage in a significant research project during the academic year of the Program. See Program Course of Study for details on the Program's academic requirements.
