IPR Summer Undergraduate Research
Assistants Program
Since 1998, IPR has offered the Summer Undergraduate Research Assistants Program to increase the involvement of undergraduates in research at IPR. The program is intended to give students a real experience in the conceptualization and conduct of policy-relevant social science research. It is our hope that some of the participants will continue to work for faculty during the following academic year and/or write honors theses on topics of interest to IPR. Students will receive a stipend for their work. The program is open to Northwestern freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.
The RA program starts off with a week-long course in statistical computing and students spend the rest of the time working as research assistants to IPR faculty. The program begins in June and ends in September; however, the program is flexible at the discretion of the faculty sponsor and students can negotiate starting dates, any necessary time off, and ending dates.
Interested students can get more information by clicking on the "Call for Applications" link below. Selection will be based on the student's record, the faculty member's proposed research, and the nature of work the student will do. Proposals to use undergraduates in field research, survey design and administration, or statistical analysis will receive equal consideration.
