IPR events bring prominent guests to public, campus

Fall 2005, Volume 27, Number 1

As part of its core dissemination mission, the Institute for Policy Research devotes a substantial amount of its organizational time and effort to bring prominent policymakers, academics, and advocates to the public. This year the Institute increased the number of events it held, thanks in part to a generous grant from the Joyce Foundation.

Highlights of the year included three policy briefings, including one held on mass incarceration in Washington, D.C.; a lecture on “America’s Real Jobs Problem” by Brandeis professor and former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich; and presentations by prominent journalists and authors such as Jason DeParle of The New York Times, Jennifer Washburn, a fellow at the New America Foundation and John Judis of The New Republic.
