Northwestern University
e-asch@northwestern.edu

Evelyn Asch is research coordinator for the Commercialism in Higher Education project, part of the program in Philanthropy, Voluntarism, and Nonprofit Organizations, under the direction of Burton Weisbrod, the John Evans Professor of Economics and IPR faculty fellow. She investigates the increasing commercialization of higher education in the interplay between traditional, nonprofit colleges and universities and the growing number of for-profit institutions. In addition, she coordinates the work of research assistants and provides editorial assistance.

Evelyn brings many years experience with higher education to the project, having taught at Loyola University Chicago, DePaul University, and Shimer College. A skilled researcher, she is the co-author of a casebook in argument and research for college freshmen on Just War Theory and a forthcoming one on civil disobedience. She holds a Ph.D. from the Committee on History of Culture at the University of Chicago.
