Professor or Associate Professor Interested in Inequality
Northwestern University invites applications from scholars specializing in innovative research on inequality for a tenured position jointly held between the Institute for Policy Research (IPR) and one of the following departments: Sociology, Economics, Political Science, or Psychology. We seek scholars with research programs that integrate multiple perspectives to illuminate pathways relevant to inequalities in income, wealth, health or political participation. Candidates with expertise in demography will receive special consideration, but demographic specialization is not required. Applicants should have outstanding records of scholarly publication and externally-funded research, and be interested in applying their work to social policy issues. To promote policy-relevant research activities, the appointments carry a one-half reduction in teaching responsibilities.
For more information on IPR, see http://www.northwestern.edu/ipr/ and for the Departments of Political Science, Economics, Psychology, or Sociology, see http://www.wcas.northwestern.edu/. Northwestern is located in an attractive and diverse lakefront community adjacent to Chicago. Please mail a statement of research, teaching/training, vita, representative reprints, and 3 letters of recommendation to Thomas D. Cook and John Hagan, Search Committee Co-Chairs, Institute for Policy Research, Northwestern University, 2040 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60208. We will begin reviewing application materials on October 21 until the position is filled. Minorities and women are strongly encouraged to apply. Northwestern University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States.
