Travel Instructions for Workshop Attendees
Contact Karen Burke, burke@northwestern.edu, or 847.467.1447 with any questions or concerns.
HOTEL
We recommend you stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, Evanston. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Norris University Center, where the workshops will be held. There is also a free shuttle service for guests to travel in and around Evanston. You will find more information about the hotel on their website. We need you to confirm your reservation at the hotel 1 month in advance of the workshop. The negotiated room rate is $129/night, plus taxes. You will be responsible for any charges incurred due to late cancellation.
TRAVEL TO AND FROM
When booking your flights please keep the following in mind:
• |
AIRPORT: O'HARE airport is more convenient to Evanston than Midway, so we encourage you to fly through O'Hare if possible. However Midway often has cheaper flights. If you fly through Midway, leave yourself an additional hour of travel time to get to the airport, just to be safe. The workshop ends between 2 and 3pm on the last day. Ideal departure times from O'Hare would be between 4-7 pm. |
• |
HOTEL: We expect that you would arrive in the afternoon or evening before the workshop and leave on the evening of the last day. |
• |
GROUND TRANSPORTATION: We recommend Airport Express (a shuttle that runs from both O'Hare and Midway), as a slightly less expensive option. Reservations must be made and can be made at their website.
You can catch a cab to and from the airport. We recommend Northshore Cab which has a flate rate to O'Hare and Midway. You may contact them at 847.864.7500, or go to their website. |
• |
FOR LOCAL ATTENDEES: Please make sure I'm aware that you will be driving to the conference. I will need to make arrangements for you to park at the University. |
