Welcome to Northwestern University and to Evanston! It’s a pleasure to have you with us as you pursue your academic endeavors. The International Office is here to assist you and your family with immigration status, programming for spouses and children, and any other needs that may arise during your stay.

Our commitment is to provide you with the most accurate information and to direct you to pertinent resources so that you and your family can avail of everything that the university and the Chicagoland area offers.

In the following pages, you’ll find information on immigration regulations that pertain to your visa category. This is not to be construed as legal advice, but meant more as an informational tool. In the coming months watch for additional information on programming; in the meantime, our Community Council for International Students (CCIS) offers a plethora of programs, including English conversation and other social and recreational events for spouses and children.
