Dear Northwestern Departments,
The International Office is a resource to help support departments and professors who are interested in sponsoring and bringing International Scholars including faculty, researchers and short-term visitors to Northwestern University.
In this section of our web site, you will find information about non-immigrant visa categories such as J-1, H-1B, E-3, TN, sponsorship of international employees for Legal Permanent Resident status, the associated internal and external processes in obtaining them, and other helpful hints to assist International Scholars in maintaining their status.
Our commitment is to provide departments with the most accurate and up-to-date information available to us. Please note that the information contained in these pages is not meant to be legal advice but rather to be used as a tool in facilitating the hiring of qualified individuals that promote the core mission of your unit and the university at large.
As always, if you are considering a non-U.S. citizen or permanent resident for a position, the IO can be of assistance in evaluating the candidate's current immigration status and proposing options to cover the period of planned employment. In addition, the IO scholar services is also willing to meet with the candidate, should he or she have any questions related to legal employment at Northwestern.
Please make sure to sign up for our Department Listserv for important updates.
We hope that you find the information contained in this section helpful and we appreciate any feedback.
Thank you,
