Undergraduate Global Ally Internship Program

New in 2018!

Welcome to the first application cycle for the International Office’s Undergraduate Global Ally Internship Program!  The goal of this internship program is to bring increased awareness to Northwestern University’s international communities through the support of experienced Northwestern students.  The International Office, also known as the “IO,” hosts over 7,000 international students, visiting researchers, faculty, staff, and their families (see our 2016-2017 statistics).  Through this internship, Global Ally Interns will gain insight into this diverse and unique community at Northwestern, while also gaining practical leadership experience.  We welcome experienced undergraduate students to apply and join our dynamic team!

Eligibility Requirements

  • Complete the online application! 
  • Open to current domestic and international undergraduate students
  • Open to students with 1+ year of experience as a Northwestern student
  • 3.0+ GPA (email stephanie.cisneros@northwestern.edu a copy of your unofficial transcript from CAESAR)
  • 1+ recommendation letter(s) and/or reference list with contact info (email to stephanie.cisneros@northwestern.edu)

Important skill sets:

Responsibilities of a Global Ally Intern:

  • Global Ally Interns must be committed to interning with the IO for 5 hours per week for 2 academic quarters. This internship is unpaid! (tentative start and end dates: January 15-June 1)
  • Required to attend introductory training session(s) at end of Fall Quarter 2017
  • You will have bi-weekly or weekly check-ins with your designated International Office Staff Supervisor
  • All Global Ally Interns and their International Office Staff Supervisors will meet once per academic quarter – the IO expects the Global Allies to collaborate and work together on a variety of projects
  • Serve as an advocate of the International Office and the communities we serve

Seeking Global Ally Interns in these areas (full intern descriptions)

  • Data Wizard – Assessment Support
  • Media Pro – Visual/Graphic Design, and Social Media
  • International Scholar Programming – Supporting visiting researchers, post-doctoral students, faculty, and staff
  • Service and Social Justice Programming- Supporting programs in social justice, volunteering and community service
