International activities and programming take place in various corners of the university. Below is a list of offices and units at Northwestern that offer international opportunities and support for students, scholars, and faculty.

Office of International Relations

The Office of International Relations, under the leadership of Vice President for International Relations Dévora Grynspan, advances the strategic goals of the university in a global context by developing and strengthening international partnerships, developing international opportunities for students and faculty, hosting foreign delegations and events, and supporting and integrating the global activities of various units on campus.

Buffett Institute for Global Studies

The Buffett Institute for Global Studies addresses critical global issues through collaborative research, public dialogue, and engaged scholarship.

Global Engagement at the Buffett Institute - Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI)

Global Engagement at the Buffett Institute equips students with the knowledge, tools and experience needed to confront global challenges. Its Global Engagement Studies Institute takes students to the developing world to work with nongovernmental and grassroots organizations to advance sustainable, community-driven change.

International Office (IO)

The International Office (IO) offers Northwestern's international students and scholars professional support, advising services, and programming regarding immigration.

Office of Global Safety and Security (OGSS)

The Office of Global Safety and Security (OGSS) supports the health, safety and security of students, faculty and staff who travel abroad for a variety of reasons under university support or sponsorship.

Office of International Program Development (IPD)

The Office of International Program Development (IPD) manages all exchange programs and designs research and study abroad programs that allow students to enroll in premier institutions around the world. Its interdisciplinary programs are based on themes that include global health, culture and identity, political economy, and science and engineering and are apt for students who seek degree- and career-relevant experiences.

Study Abroad Office

The Study Abroad Office offers Northwestern-sponsored and affiliated programs to provide diverse educational opportunities that shape how students think about themselves, their communities, and the world.

Schools and Colleges

Feinberg School of Medicine - Center for Global Health

The mission of the Center for Global Health is to promote health equity issues on Northwestern University campuses and build upon the knowledge base in the field of global health through translational research and interdisciplinary education initiatives in both the U.S. and globally.

McCormick School of Engineering - Global Initiatives

McCormick's Global Initiatives allow students, faculty, and alumni to explore, experience, and engage with global scholarly activities anchored by McCormick programs and initiatives.

Kellogg School of Management - Global Opportunities

The Kellogg School of Management offers a variety of global opportunities: an executive MBA network that spans seven Kellogg campuses, 37 exchange programs in 20 countries, the Global Initiatives in Management (GIM) program that brings Kellogg students abroad, and a focus on global experiential learning and international field research.

Pritzker School of Law - International Programs Office

Pritzker's International Program Office offers opportunities for law students to engage in exchange programs with seven renowned universities around the world, international joint degree options in Spain and France, and Executive LLM programs for working legal and business professionals in Europe, Korea, and the Middle East.

Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications - Medill Global

Medill Global offers international experiential learning opportunities to broaden student perspectives and prepare students for global media careers. Opportunities include global journalism residencies in Argentina, Qatar, and South Africa, and course-related trips to travel and report abroad.

School of Communication - The Office of External Programs, Internships, & Career Services

The Office of External Programs, Internships, & Career Services (EPICS) empowers School of Communication students to develop their career strategy and engage in the global marketplace.
