Inclusion Task Force Initiative

Purpose

student task force meetingThe purpose of forming a inclusion task force is to assist with the development and implementation of various programs and services that will be executed from the Department of Campus Inclusion and Community.

Structure

The task force will consist of 20 students that will be nominated from various administrators in the Division of Student Affairs.  The Director of Campus Inclusion and Community will then contact the student nominees and ask that they complete an application form if they are interested in serving on the task force.

Charge

Meeting will take place weekly for an hour and a half. Students will be split up into four working groups and will be charged with the following tasks:

Dialogue Program

  • Research various dialogue program models and assist in the selection of the program NU will adapt
  • Implement a dialogue program
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, and training process for facilitators

Education and Training

  • Develop a peer multicultural education/training group
  • Explore training models and curriculum for the group
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and training of this peer group

Marketing

  • Create a departmental logo and branding
  • Develop a marketing strategy for departmental signature programs and services
  • Assist in building the departmental website and social media presence

Operations

  • Explore departmental structure
  • Participate in the development of the Bias Incident Response Protocol
  • Generate ideas for departmental signature programs
  • All working groups will be exploring how the department will collaborate with students, staff, and faculty and establishing ways of assessing the various departmental programs and services.

Requirements

The requirements for serving as a member of the student task force include:
  • Completing the application and interview process
  • Serving on the task force for one year (Fall2012 Quarter through Summer 2013 Quarter)
  • Attending all task force meetings and training sessions (meeting will be set as a group)
  • Completing all task related assignments
  • Creating quarterly reports for NU students
  • Collaboratively developing an end of the year report
