To pursue an immersion experience, you will
- Consult a faculty member and propose a project. All projects must be approved and supervised by a member of the faculty at Northwestern. Given the importance of the immersion experience in your academic program, you also should discuss it with your major or school adviser.
- Immerse yourself. You should devote yourself full time for at least one term to your immersion experience.
- Connect with other students. Students involved in immersion experiences in a given quarter will be linked to one another and Northwestern through frequent face-to-face or virtual meetings.
- Produce a scholarly or creative work. At the conclusion of the immersion experience you will create a tangible academic or artistic work. You should expect to complete the project during the "immersion quarter," though in some cases it may be completed in a subsequent quarter.
The Office of the Provost will support some exceptional projects that cannot be completed or funded through existing programs. The application for funding from the Provost can be downloaded here. Applications for Summer 2010 are due on Friday, April 2, 2010 and will be evaluated by a faculty committee. |
