Certificates of Advanced Graduate Study (graduate degree holders only)

Certificates of advanced graduate study are a unique opportunity for targeted study in a field for students who already hold a graduate degree. These certificates are open to individuals who hold a graduate degree in a certain area of focus (corresponding to the certificate) from an accredited U.S. college, university or its foreign equivalent. Each certificate is designed around a specialized area of focus, allowing students to explore new trends in their field or to refresh their skills in preparation for a career change.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Programs (Bachelor degree holders only)

Post-baccalaureate certificate programs are an opportunity for targeted study, to advance your career or prepare for graduate or professional school. They are intended for students who have a bachelor’s degree but have not completed or have never taken the courses generally required for admission to these schools. Many students use post-baccalaureate programs to strengthen their academic transcript, show recent academic success and secure current letters of recommendation from Northwestern faculty.

PREMEDICINE AND PROFESSIONAL HEALTH CAREERS, within Post-Baccalaureate options, offers a variety of certificate options to help individuals prepare for a career change to the healthcare field. These allow college graduates to complete undergraduate science courses to prepare for application to schools of medicine and related professions including dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy and podiatry. Additional concentrations are offered to prepare students for graduate programs in clinical psychology, nursing, physical therapy, physician assistant and speech pathology.
