Process for Internal employees Applying for an open Position

All job openings are available to current employees who meet the minimum job and eligibility requirements. You can view the current open positions listing from your self-service home page. This is located at

https://nuhr.northwestern.edu

 

To be eligible for transfer or promotion to another department, you must meet the following requirements:

 

•  Minimum service of one year in your current position,

•  An overall rating of at least "satisfactory" or “effective” on your most recent performance evaluation

•  No disciplinary actions within the past six (6) months.

•  Meet the qualifications of the position.

 

To apply for an open position, log in to your self-service home page and click on the job opportunities link. You will be prompted to certify your eligibility. Upon doing so, you may search for and apply to open positions for which you are qualified. Before you apply, review carefully the qualifications and competencies under each position description. If you are selected as a finalist, Human Resources will confirm your transfer eligibility status before you are allowed to transfer.

 

Department Review: The primary interviewer may contact you directly if he or she is interested in your application. D uring the recruitment process for a particular position, you will be kept informed of your candidate status by our HR recruiter.

 

Supervisor Notice: It is not necessary to notify your current supervisor during the initial application process. If you become a finalist for the position, your supervisor must be notified of the potential transfer.

 

Transfer Date: Human Resources will coordinate the transfer date with the hiring manager and your current manager. Generally, an exempt employee will provide three weeks working notice, and a non-exempt employee will provide two weeks working notice.
