HRIS Development and Initiatives 1998

1042s Reporting
Since the commercial product did not have any non resident functionality, we built in the ability to create 1042s's from HRIS for non resident aliens claiming treaties or receiving scholarships.

Conversion of FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts)
For the first year of HRIS, the checks for the Flexible Spending Accounts (Health and Dependent Care) continued to be handled through the mainframe system. May of 1998, we went live with cutting checks for Health and Dependent Care out of HRIS.

Increase Training Endeavors
We create Query training manual and increase the frequency of procedural training. Look up Training was conducted for users on HRIS. All training was repeated every 6 week.

Upgrade to 6.0
Moved to a new release of the software - usually taked 6 - 9 months for an upgrade.

Look up Capabilities for HRIS
We expanded Look up capabilities to anyone that processed payroll transactions. Currently in 2002, there are over 300 people who have look up capabilities in the system. Along with Look up capabilities, they have access to create and run Queries.

MEA Program
Built in Maximum Exclusion Allowances into Benefit Module to track 403B participation.

Implemented Salary Planning Module for Staff
Allowed entry of merit increases for staff on line into the system through Salary Planning Module. This endeavor eliminated Duplicate Entry by the Payroll Office and submission of Paperwork by Departments.
