Holidays specified in union contracts are observed according to those contracts, even if different from this calendar. Holidays for the NU-Q campus may differ from these dates.
Holiday Eligibility
To be paid for a university scheduled holiday, exempt and nonexempt employees must be in paid status for at least 50 percent of the pay period in which the holiday falls, excluding the scheduled holiday itself.
Part time employees must work 17.5 hours per week to qualify. Holiday pay is based on the biweekly scheduled hours divided by ten. For example, a part time employee scheduled to work 60 hours in a biweekly pay period is eligible for six paid holiday hours. Temporary employees are not eligible for holiday pay as well as part time employees working less than 17.5 hours per week.
