Online Enrollment for New Faculty and Staff Using HRIS Self Service,
eBenefits
You must complete the online enrollment process
within 31 days of initial benefits eligibility. Otherwise, your
next opportunity to enroll or apply for certain benefit plan coverage
is during the annual fall Online Enrollment period or within 31 days
from a qualifying change in family or employment status.

Step 1
Learn: |
Make sure you have
received a New Employee Benefits Packet. If you
do not have one, contact the Benefits Division
to have them send you one or you may pick on up
from their office.
Attend a campus-wide New Employee
Orientation Session. A list of meetings is can be found online at The New Employee Orientation page.
If you are unable to attend a New Employee Benefits Orientation session, you may view the presentation online. |

Step 2
Evaluate Your Options: |
Read the material in your New Employee
Benefits Packet to understand your benefit plan
options.
Visit www.benefits.northwestern.edu and
use the Online Resources including the web sites
of sponsoring insurance and investment companies
to help you compare health care plans and your
other benefit plan options.
Record your choices so that you have
them readily available when using eBenefits. |

Step 3
Enroll: |
Waive or select coverage using
the eBenefits feature of HRIS Self Service and
submit your selections. All you need is your NetID
and password. Click on the "Enroll Now" button
below to go to the eBenefits login page.
If you are enrolling in the 403b retirement plans,
your enrollment is not complete until you establish
an account with the selected investment company
which you may do online.
If eBenefits indicates your selections
require additional documentation, download the
forms and complete and return them to the Benefits
Division with 31 days from your date of hire or
initial benefits eligibility. The Benefits Divsion
will accept only original documents. Fax copies
of .pdf files will not be accepted.
