Faculty and Staff (COBRA Participants) |

At the time an employee terminates University employment, he or
she may elect to temporarily continue to participate in certain
University sponsored benefits or to convert certain coverages to
an individual policy directly with a sponsoring insurance company.
Under Federal law, an employee has the right to temporarily continue
health, vision, dental and FSA Health Care Account participation.
These rights are extended to employees under the Consolidated Omni
bus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA.) Participants pay the total
monthly health, vision or dental premium plus a 2% administrative
fee.
An employee may convert AD&D and Basic Term Life Insurance
coverage to an individual policy directly with the sponsoring
insurance company following termination of University employment
or other life change events listed below. An employee may continue
Supplementall Term Life Insurance coverage under a portability
feature. An employee may continue health, dental and vision coverage
for up to a specified period of time. Short Term and Long Term
Disability coverage stops at termination of employment. Tuition
benefits may be continued through the end of the term of study
only.
