Abbott Hall: Chicago Campus
Welcome, and thanks for your interest in housing on Northwestern University's
Chicago campus. The following general information is intended
to provide an introduction to our facilities and services.

Features
Furnished studio and one-bedroom apartments are available to students in Abbott
Hall, located at 710 North Lake Shore Drive. Abbott Hall houses only floors fifteen to eighteen.
Convenient Location
Abbott Hall is a central campus location that features the Campus Bookstore, WildCARD
Office, Bursar's Office, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid Offices.
Family Housing
Priority
for assignment to Abbott Hall is offered to students who will be living
with their spouses or partners and those living with dependent children.
Safety and Security
University Police patrols Abbott Hall and other campus areas regularly. The outside
entrance doors of the residence halls are locked each evening, and entry is obtained
only by the use of a Marlock key, which is issued to each student resident.
Rooms/Floor Plans
Singles
Rooms are furnished with a single bed (twin extra long mattress),
dresser, lounge chair, floor lamp, desk, desk chair, and desk
lamp.
Family Housing
Rooms are furnished with a bed (queen sleeper sofa in studios, queen bed and
queen sleeper sofa in one bedrooms), dresser, lounge chair, floor lamp, desk, desk chair,
desk lamp, kitchen table, and kitchen chairs.
Persons
applying for family housing are required to submit documentation supporting
their family status. Please call the Housing Office at 847-491-5127 for
more information about this process.
All apartments include basic campus telephone service and
data service. The apartments are carpeted, include private bathrooms with tub and shower,
and feature kitchen units.
Residents of the apartments are not required to participate
in a meal plan, but are welcome to do so if they wish. Please note that bed linens, sheets, blankets, pillows,
towels, and wash cloths are not provided.

A $300 room reservation deposit is required of all new and
nonresident students who wish to reserve rooms in University
residences. The deposit will be applied to your student account
on the first bill of the period for which you are requesting
university housing.
Application Procedure
Applicants must be accepted for admission to or currently enrolled in their respective
schools before being assigned. Please download and complete the Abbott Hall Application (PDF).
Assignments are made each year based on the date of the received application.
Once an assignment is made the student will receive via e-mail a housing offer.
The housing offer will have the type of room being offered and instructions for
sending the room reservation deposit, which must be received before the housing
contract is created. Once a housing deposit is received you will receive additional
information for your housing contract.
Residency Limitation
Occupancy is limited to eight years
(96 months) from the date of your admission to your program.
