FRATERNITY AND SORORITY COMMUNITY



2000 - present
2000

Northwestern University hosts the Big Ten Greek Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield. It is the first time in many years that the event has been held. NU, and many other Big Ten schools opt to not attend the annual Mid-American Greek Council Association Conference, also held in Chicago, because it is too large and doesn’t meet the needs of our officers.

Chi Delta Chi Fraternity affiliates with the national organization and becomes a chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon.

Sigma Chi Fraternity is closed by their alumni and national organization as a result of risk management violations.

Alpha Delta Pi sorority re-colonizes at Northwestern.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity celebrates the 20th Anniversary of their Alpha Ball on Homecoming Weekend.

Josh Mitchell, Alpha Phi Alpha, and Vernesha Williams, Delta Sigma Theta, become NU’s first African-American Homecoming King and Queen.

Sigma Lambda Gamma becomes Northwestern’s first Latina-based sorority.

Alpha Epsilon Pi receives its charter.

2001 Lambda Theta Alpha (Beta Psi chapter) founded at NU.

Phi Kappa Sigma decides to close after the chapter loses its house.

Omega Delta Phi (Alpha Alpha) becomes NU's first Latino-based fraternity.

Alpha Delta Pi (Gamma Beta) receives its charter.

Delta Kappa Epsilon is closed by the University.

2002 Pi Kappa Alpha re-colonizes at Northwestern and receives its charter in 2003.

Phi Beta Sigma (Iota Nu) returns to NU.
2003 Northwestern returns to the Mid America Greek Council Association (MGCA) Conference.

Pi Kappa Alpha receives its charter.

Kappa Phi Lambda is founded at Northwestern and becomes Northwestern's first Asian-interest sorority.

Kappa Sigma (Epsilon Delta Chapter) closes as a result of violations of IFC and University sanctions.
2004

Sigma Chi (Omega Chapter) recolonizes at NU.

 

 

 

2005

Sigma Chi (Omega Chapter) receives its charter.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon (Illinois Psi-Omega Chapter) recolonizes at NU.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. receives its charter.

2006

Sigma Alpha Epsilon (Illinois Psi-Omega Chapter) receives its charter.

Alpha Delta Pi closes its Northwestern chapter due to financial and membership reasons.

The Fraternity and Sorority Life Task Force concluded 18 months of work resulting in Vision 20/20 - a strategic plan for 2006-2010.

2007

Zeta Tau Alpha (Alpha-Phi Chapter) colonizes and receives its charter.

Delta Tau Delta closes.
