Honor Societies

Membership in honor societies are offered to the best and brightest that we have in our community. Qualifications include academic GPA, leadership qualities, and commitment to fraternity and sorority life. The three honor societies in our community are:

Gamma Sigma Alpha

The Gamma Sigma Alpha Seal
The Beta Tau chapter of Gamma Sigma Alpha (founded in 1995) National Academic Greek Honor Society (GSA) is the premier organization committed to the academic success of our members and alignment with the academic missions of our host institutions. Students with Junior or Senior status and a 3.65 GPA are eligible for membership in Gamma Sigma Alpha. Applications are available in Fall and Spring quarter. Please download a brochure(.pdf) for more information.

Gamma Sigma Alpha at Northwestern sponsors a quarterly Faculty Dinner Series, in which members have the opportunity to have dinner and conversation with a respected faculty member on campus.

In addition, the national Gamma Sigma Alpha provides a scholarship for Graduate study. Please download a copy of the application(.pdf) and follow instructions or go to the Gamma Sigma Alpha web site for more information.

Rho Lambda

A Rho Lambda Badge
The Greek letters Rho Lambda stand for PANHELLENIC LEADERSHIP, meaning encompassing all Greeks. Rho Lambda honors junior and senior Greek women within the Panhellenic Association, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and Multicultural Greek Council who have exhibited the highest qualities of leadership and service to their chapter, council, the Greek community, and the NU community. Rather than applying for membership, new members are selected by current members and "tapped" as members of the Beta Xi chapter of Rho Lambda (founded on November 14, 1974).

Order of Omega

The Greek letter Omega
The purpose of the Delta Nu chapter of Order of Omega is to recognize those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities, to encourage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment. Students with Junior or Senior status, 3.5 GPA or higher, and exemplary leadership abilities will be invited to apply for membership in Fall and Spring quarters.

Order of Omega was founded at Northwestern on April 26, 1982 and they sponsor the Greek Awards banquet.
