International Travel Registry Instructions

Register your trip in Northwestern’s International Travel Registry so the Office of Global Safety and Security (OGSS) has information about your trip and can reach out in case there is a health or safety emergency. Complete the travel registry at least two weeks before your departure.

The travel registry uses the same system as Northwestern’s study abroad application system.

If you have previously applied to study abroad

  1. Go to the International travel registry. Select the term your travel will take place and “login.”

  2. Click on “Northwestern Student Login” in blue.

  3. Enter your net ID and password.
  4. Fill in the required fields, and you will notice check marks next to each complete section on the left side of the page under “FILL OUT APPLICATION.”

  5. When you have completed all of the requirements under “FILL OUT APPLICATION,” select "Submit Application" at the bottom page. 
  6. After submitting, you will see the following message.

  7. You will also receive an email confirmation when you have successfully completed the ITR. Please forward this message to your advisor, program contact, or trip leader. If you have applied for funding from an Northwestern department, this confirmation is required for funding to be released.

If you have not completed an online application for study abroad

  1.  Go to the Student Login. Click on “Northwestern Student Login” in blue. Enter your net ID and password.

  2. Fill in the required fields, including passport information.

  3. Once you “Submit Registration” to create your student profile, you will be taken back to the home page. Click on "Northwestern Student Login" in blue to log in again.
  4. Under Applications, click on “Select a program to begin your application” (in blue).

  5. This will take you to the Search Programs page.

  6. On the Search Programs page, enter “International Travel Registry” next to Keyword, then Apply Search.
  7. Under Options (in the brown bar), select the term your travel will take place.
  8. Fill in the required fields, and you will notice check marks next to each complete section on the left side of the page under “FILL OUT APPLICATION.”

  9. When you have completed all of the requirements under “FILL OUT APPLICATION,” select "Submit Application" at the bottom page. 
  10. After submitting, you will see the following message.
