The General Faculty Committee (GFC) is a standing committee of the University Senate composed of elected representatives of the various schools of the University as well as at-large members. The GFC, as a representative of the senate, acts as an advisory group on issues of significance to the University and provides liaison between the faculty and University administration. Weinberg College elects 6 members, the Medical School 5, McCormick School of Engineering 2, School of Education and Social Policy, Kellogg School of Management, Law School, Music School, Medill School of Journalism, and the School of Communication 1 each. There are also 3 at large members who are elected by the entire faculty. Members are elected for staggered 3 year terms. (See Members Page) There are currently seven standing committees: Budget and Policy Committee, Education Committee, Research Committee, Committee on Cause, Faculty Development Committee, Benefits Committee, and Committee on Committees.
