FY06-07 Members: GFC Sub-Committee on Research Affairs Mission: To serve as a conduit between the faculty and the university administration regarding the research environment at Northwestern. Advise on issues that facilitate or impede research, and to monitor the university's progress in remedying research impediments. Purpose: Faculty conducting research at Northwestern University directly interact with the appropriate University services that support research. As such, faculty are in the best position to identify key aspects of the research environment that facilitate research accomplishment and obstacles that impede research. Thus, the faculty voice is a vital source of guidance as the research enterprise at Northwestern grows in size and scope. Subcommittee activities: The GFC Sub-Committee on Research Affairs will collect, organize, and communicate to the university administration the observations and experiences of faculty actively engaged in research at Northwestern. The subcommittee will work with the university administration to establish procedures to address research-related issues in a way that will facilitate the highest order of excellence in research at Northwestern University. The subcommittee will also provide feedback to the faculty on the progress of solutions to the issues brought to the committee. Send comments to: researchissues@northwestern.edu.
