Project Description & Statistics

The Fred and A. Norman Drucker Laboratory For Virology Research, which will focus on the study of virology, AIDS, hepatitis and biodefense, will be located on the 9th floor of the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center.  The 9th floor remained a "shelled" floor in the building, awaiting necessary funding to undertake construction.  In addition to specialized laboratories and support labs, this facility will include a bio-safety level 3 environment (similar to a clean room).

Completion Date

Design of the project began in 2005.  Construction began in Fall, 2006 and is scheduled to be completed in late January, 2008.
