Accounting Services for Research and Sponsored Programs
The Office of Accounting Services for Research and Sponsored Programs (ASRSP) is dedicated to providing exceptional financial administration to sponsored research grants and contracts. Their functions include financial reporting, invoicing, collecting revenue, coordinating audits and processing transactions.
Cost Studies
The Office of Cost Studies (Cost Studies) is dedicated to providing analytical and cost accounting expertise to the management of Northwestern University’s research enterprise and to the fulfillment of broader operational objectives. They oversee conformance with University policy, procedure, and practice in matters relating to cost accounting for sponsored programs.
Effort Reporting
As a recipient of significant external funding, the University must assure Federal and other sponsors that the assignment of time and associated salary and fringe benefit costs to the projects they sponsor is fair, consistent, and timely. The University fulfills this responsibility through Effort Reporting. Effort Reporting is required of exempt faculty and staff in departments with sponsored funding. Effort reporting is managed through ASRSP and the Controller’s Office, with input from OSR.
