  DETAILS
The Javits Fellowship program is administered by the U.S. Department of Education, and selects Fellows on the basis of their academic ability and potential for accomplishment in their field of study. The program stipulates that 20% of awards will be made in the social sciences, 20% in the arts, and 60% in the humanities. At least 60% will be made to students who have not yet begun graduate study. The total number of fellowships offered varies from year to year, depending upon available funding, and occasionally the program is suspended-be sure to check the website if you are interested in applying.
