DAAD Study Scholarships aim to provide students in the fields of fine art, design, film, music, choreography and architecture with an opportunity to complete a course of additional studies, without earning a formal degree, at a German university or institution. Scholarships are granted for one academic year (10 months), with the possibility of a one-year extension. |

ELIGIBILITY |

Applicants in all academic fields are welcome to apply. Graduate students should be enrolled full-time in an accredited graduate program. PhD candidates should have a minimum of ABD status. Applicants should be US or Canadian citizens. Foreign nationals must be affiliated with an accredited US or Canadian university and express intent to return to their US/Canadian institution following the research visit to Germany. Applicants in the arts, humanities and social sciences should have a good command of German. Applicants may not hold a DAAD grant and a grant from another German or German-American organization/German-Canadian organization concurrently for the same project. Prior recipients of a DAAD grant should contact DAAD New York before applying to determine their eligibility status. Applicants for long-term scholarships should as a rule be younger than 32 at the start of the grant period. For short-term scholarships applicants should be younger than 36. |

AWARD AMOUNT |

|
Monthly stipends range from approximately €715 to €975, depending on the level of academic advancement. In addition, DAAD will pay for health insurance and travel costs. |
