Samuel H. Kress Predoctoral Fellowships in Art History
Fifteen to twenty Kress Travel Fellowships in the History of Art for travel required for the completion of dissertation research on European art. Stipends generally range from $3500 to $10,000. Dissertation research must focus on European art before 1900. The foundation offers four $22,500-per-year Kress Institutional Fellowships in the History of European Art for a two-year research appointment in association with select foreign institutes.
Dissertation research must focus on European art from antiquity to the early 19th century. Candidates must be nominated by their academic department.
The fellowship award is $30,000 per annum, with a minimum of $25,000 as a fellowship stipend, and $5,000 toward the host institution's administrative costs, benefits for the Fellow, and other direct costs of hosting the Fellowship.
