Background

My theoretical orientation is integrative and I tend to incorporate elements of cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior/mindfulness, psychodynamic, client centered, and interpersonal approaches into my clinical and conceptual work. It’s important for me to use evidence based practices when working with clients and finding ways my clients can relate with these approaches. While I consider myself a generalist, I particularly enjoy working with graduate and professional students with a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety and stress management, grief/loss, identity development, and relationships issues.

Supervision is an area I always enjoy and find rewarding. I work from the developmental perspective, learning about a trainee’s past experiences, current and developing interests, and goals. Similar to my clinical work, I use a strengths based approach while at the same time, help identify areas a trainee wants to improve. I enjoy working with trainees to help facilitate growth, confidence, and deepening of clinical skills and theoretical knowledge. I strive to create an open and collaborate relationship to help both challenge and support a trainee. As a lifelong learner, I also find it fulfilling and engaging to learn from trainees’ experiences and perspectives.
