About CAPS

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) has a long history of extensive training, with an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship site.

CAPS provides:

  • A full range of clinical, training, and developmental services
  • 24-hour rotational on-call system for after hours emergencies
  • Extensive group therapy program without treatment limits
  • A stress clinic
  • and other short-term developmental programs

CAPS is committed to diversity in all forms and participates in continuing professional development in this area. Because the length of treatment at CAPS is limited to 12 sessions, CAPS emphasizes training in brief therapy although selected longer term cases are available to trainees and Postdoctoral Fellows.  CAPS has 16 full time professional staff, including 11 psychologists, 3 psychiatrists, and 2 social workers. CAPS also provides training to three full-time psychology interns and social work interns. CAPS has two office locations, with sites on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses.
