About CAPS

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) has a long history of extensive training, with an APA accredited Doctoral Internship in psychology.

CAPS provides:

  • A full range of clinical, training, outreach, and consultation services
  • 24-hour rotational on-call system for afterhours emergencies where we provide consultation and intervention in collaboration with a contracted third-party agency.
  • Extensive group therapy program without treatment limits
  • The Stress Management Clinic
  • Other short-term outreach programs for college mental-health issues

CAPS is committed to diversity in all forms and participates in continuing professional development in this area. Individual psychotherapy at CAPS is short-term, therefore training at CAPS offers extensive opportunity to enhance skills in brief treatment.  On the other hand, a few selected longer-term clients are available to Postdoctoral Fellows to round out the training experience.

CAPS has 22 professional staff, including 15 psychologists, 2 Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors, 3 psychiatrists, and 2 Licensed Clinical Social Workers. The internship at CAPS has three full-time Doctoral Interns.
