Welcome from the Executive Vice President

Nim ChinniahThe City of Evanston and Northwestern University are inextricably linked. Both the City and the University are storied institutions with a rich history of success and strength. Together, we can continue to build and sustain a community of impact for generations to come. We are committed to this journey of transparency, engagement, and partnership.

Under the leadership principles set forth by President Morty Schapiro and through the direct involvement of Alan Anderson, the Office of Neighborhood and Community Relations was created with a goal of building strong, transparent, and strategic partnerships between the University and the Evanston community that enhance the impact of both through collaborative work efforts. Aligned with the priorities of the University, this office will focus on three main areas of engagement: Education, Child and Youth Development, Economic and Community Development, and Health and Public Safety.

Our commitment to the City of Evanston is stronger than ever and the University is excited to continue these existing efforts and establish new initiatives in the future. You have my personal pledge that we will strive tirelessly to engage in a spirit of partnership and collaboration.

We are fortunate to be located in one of the most vibrant communities in the world.
