Schedule Changes for Shuttle Routes

Based primarily on student, faculty, staff, City of Evanston and local resident feedback, we have made several important changes to the shuttle routes beginning Monday, September 15th.

Intercampus:
Beginning Monday, September 15th, the following Intercampus route changes will commence:

  • The northbound Chicago/Davis and Chicago/Main stops will be moved to the north side of their respective intersections in an effort to decrease traffic congestion.
  • A stop has been added at Chicago/Greenleaf near the Jewel and Whole Foods stores so students can shop throughout the week.
  • The Engelhart Hall stop will be reinstated and the route changed slightly now that the
Evanston sewer project is nearly complete.
  • The Ridge/Garnett and Noyes/Sherman stops have been removed from the route.

Ryan Field:
Beginning Monday, September 15th, the following Ryan Field route changes will commence:

  • The Ryan Field route will now run in only one direction throughout the day, all stops from the “Ryan Field AM” route are discontinued.
  • New stops include:  Green Bay/Harrison (westside of Green Bay Rd near the Central St. Metra station); the southwest corner of Emerson/Maple; and the Elgin/Clark/Orrington intersection in front of the Burger King.
  • The Clark/Chicago stop has been removed.

Purple Route:

  • The Sherman/Emerson stop will be reinstated and the Orrington/Emerson stop will be discontinued.

Purple Express:

  • The Clark/Hinman stop has been removed.

Shop-N-Ride:

  • Old Orchard has been removed from the route and replaced with Lincolnwood Town Center, which includes stops at popular destinations such as, Jewel, Target and Best Buy.

Frostbite Express:

  • The Kemper parking lot and Research Park stops have been removed.
  • A stop has been added at the CTA shelter on the northwest corner of Emerson/Maple.

Chicago Train Shuttle:
Beginning Monday, September 1st, the price of a 10-ride pass on the Chicago train shuttle will increase to $15.  The price of the monthly pass will remain unchanged at $35.

It doesn't get any better than this…

Campus parking rates were raised this fall, but the Ryan Field parking permit price of $25 stayed the same. If you take classes or work in the Evanston location, the Ryan Field parking permit is a good alternative for those not wishing to pay the full permit rate or for those who live within the walking zone and need a place to park their vehicle. Chicago campus faculty, students, and staff can consider parking their vehicle at Ryan Field and taking the Intercampus Shuttle to Chicago.

Staying safe between sunset and sunrise

If you’re staying in the Evanston campus library into the wee hours of the morning to grade papers, prepare your lecture for next week’s classes, finish a paper or cram for an exam, please stay safe and take the Purple Route or the Purple Express. During the academic year, the shuttles make stops throughout the Evanston campus until 3 a.m. seven days a week.

In Evanston, you can also call the SafeRide. This is a safety program available to Northwestern students, faculty and staff 7 days a week, from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. during the academic year. Need a ride? Call 847-491-7000. Our drivers will pick you up and drop you off anywhere within SafeRide's boundaries. For more information, see www.northwestern.edu/saferide.
