Overview of class
This class is a short, selective introduction to political sociology. Among the topics considered include the political mobilization of organized business in the seventies; American business and the conservative movement; pharmaceutical and financial regulation; and the relationship between organized business, partisan politics, public policy, and rising levels of economic inequality at the end of the twentieth century.Learning Objectives
Students will have a deeper understanding of how to reason sociologically about political life, and they will have a greater familiarity with key issues in the sociological analysis of American politics since the Second World War.Teaching Method
