Overview of class
This is a project-based follow-on to ME333, also open to other qualified students by permission of instructor. Teams of two will design and build projects incorporating PIC32 microcontrollers, electronics, mechanical and electromechanical components, and software (programming). Project suggestions are welcome, especially in advance, but actual choices will be limited such that the level of difficulty is appropriate. There is one initial organizational meeting only. Thereafter teams will meet regularly with the instructor for project and timeline planning, technical consultation, design review, documentation, presentation, and progress reporting. Activities will be modeled on those of a engineering R&D firm.Registration Requirements
None. Open to qualified graduate and undergraduate students in all disciplines. ME 333 is a recommended (not required) prior course.Teaching Method
ME 433 provides hands-on familiarization with a professional toolset for real-time control of electronic / mechanical systems, useful in research or industry, including software, electronics, sensors and actuators.
