SPS Populations Served by NCA

  • NCA serves all degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students from SPS.
  • SPS Alumni from degree programs can use NCA for 6-months immediately after graduation.
  • Students enrolled in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate and Advanced Graduate Study Certificate programs should seek their SPS Academic Adviser for career assistance.

How NU can help

SPS Academic Advisers and NCA Career Advisers are available to assist graduating graduate students and undergraduates with individual job searches. Advisers can assist you in crafting a job and/or internship search plan, which includes understanding industry trends and strategies, establishing a timeline, identifying resources, and developing/polishing job search skills. NCA advisers assist students interested in all industry areas.

SPS Academic Advisers can also refer SPS students to a NCA Career Counselor, who helps students make successful career decisions that fit their unique personality and professional goals. Some of these decisions might include choosing an academic major, assessing interests, values, strengths and skills, and exploring/discovering different career paths. In addition, career counselors can help with selecting and applying to graduate and law schools.

Scheduling an Appointment

All SPS degree-seeking students are encouraged to begin career advising with their SPS Academic Adviser. SPS Academic Advisers provide assistance with job search strategies, resume reviews, and provide program-tailored career advice in addition to academic advising.

To schedule an appointment with an NCA Career Adviser or Career Counselor, please log-on to CareerCat using your Net ID and password. Once you’ve created your profile, a link to schedule an appointment will be visible on the right hand side of your main CareerCat homepage.
