Bachelor of Science in Journalism

The Bachelor of Science in Journalism (BSJ) program provides undergraduate students the writing, reporting, editing, producing, visual and online journalism skills needed for a multimedia career.  Through the Journalism Residency (JR) program, BSJ students spend one academic quarter working full-time alongside veteran professionals in real-world environments to explore career paths and build confidence in their capabilities.

Integrated Marketing Communications Certificate

The undergraduate Integrated Marketing Communications Certificate Program focuses on effective marketing communications strategies and tactics for an increasingly digital media environment. It prepares students for entry‐level marketing communications positions in such fields as advertising, public relations, corporate communications, database marketing, and social media marketing.  Students in all undergraduate schools at Northwestern are eligible to apply to the certificate program.

Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications

The Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications is offered as a full-time, part-time, or online program. Graduate education in IMC was invented at Medill, and the program continues to lead innovation in the field. Students work collaboratively with peers and top-tier global companies to gain strategic and quantitative skills, with an emphasis on analytics that inform consumer insights. Students develop proficiencies across traditional and digital media in order to influence consumers and build business in today's complex global marketplace.


The 15-month full-time program consists of a core curriculum and six specializations. The program has a strong international focus and includes the 10-week Immersion Quarter, which features a company-sponsored project.
