Similar to finding work in the US, the process for finding work abroad is most often reached through networking, applying directly to companies and by applying through programs who post their opportunities online.

Find Networking Contacts Abroad
CareerNet is an online database of NU Alumni for informational interviewing and networking purposes. Search by location to find alumni working or living abroad. Access:www.nwuconnection.com - Click on “new student user” to create an account
Northwestern International Alumni Clubs- contact alumni who are part of NU Clubs and active in their Northwestern Alumni Community.
LinkedIn- find alumni or other connections who work or live abroad through one of the largest online networks in the world.
Find Companies/Organizations Abroad
Going Global is an online resource that provides expert advice and insider tips for finding employment opportunities within the United States and abroad. Gain access to more than 35,000 country specific career and employment resources, corporate profiles for key employers in 31 countries, and worldwide internship and job listings. International students can search for H1B employer petition listings by state, industry, or metro area in a database that contains more than 500,000 records!
Access: Log into CareerCat. On the CareerCat homepage, click “Going Global” and create a personal account.
Uniworld is a directory of American firms operating in foreign countries and foreign firms operating in the U.S.
Find Job or Internship Postings/ Programs
CareerCat is University Career Services’ chief online internship and job database for both On-Campus Recruiting and direct application opportunities. INet is an internship-only database that lists a wide array of opportunities across the country.
Access: Log into CareerCat. On the CareerCat homepage, click on “INET” under “jump to” option. Register for a new account using your NU email account. You will be approved to use iNET within 2 business days. An email will be sent to you, with your username and password.
