Economists study how society distributes scarce resources, such as land, labor, raw materials, and machinery, to produce goods and services. They conduct research, collect and analyze data, monitor economic trends, and develop forecasts. They research issues such as energy costs, inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, business cycles, taxes, or employment levels.

American Economic Association
US Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) - The BEA provides information on key issues such as economic growth, regional development, and the nation's position in the world economy. Economic Development Administration - This site lists regional offices plus links to both Federal and Non-Federal sources.
Economics and Statistics Administration - Much of the statistical, economic, and demographic information collected by the Federal Government is made available to the public through the bureaus and offices of the Department of Commerce that are collectively known as the Economic and Statistics Administration (ESA).
