Interview Tips | Grad Student Info

The main NCA government and public policy industry page provides a helpful introduction to careers in government and public policy for all students, so make sure to read that, too. Here are some additional considerations for graduate students considering a career in government or public policy.

Research the Field and Gain Experience:

There are many opportunities for graduate-level candidates in all levels of the government and policy. Learn more about the field by reading job descriptions (see job sites on the main NCA government and policy page). Also, consider doing an internship. Government internships, in particular, are often open to graduate students and are a great way to see if this type of work might be a good fit for you.

Get Connected:

Networking is an important component of many job searches in government and policy. Connect with alumni working in these fields via our.northestern.edu and through the Northwestern University Alumni group on LinkedIn.
