Northwestern
University Career Services Office connects
you to a smart, flexible, and high achieving
workforce. Employers continually tell us
that they value Northwestern’s students
and alumni because they possess strong analytical,
technical and communication skills and an
exceptional work ethic. A point to remember
is that not only do our alumni have Northwestern
University degrees, but also many alumni
have advanced degrees, including MBA and
JD, from other prestigious schools.

How to advertise internship and job
vacancies to students and registered alumni
We use two online systems to
promote your employment opportunities to thousands
of Northwestern University students and alumni.
1. CareerCat
(NACELink). Register and post jobs
and internships to Northwestern students and
alumni only, for FREE through our primary online
system, CareerCat. Additionally,
you can post employment opportunities for a small
fee to other universities across the area
and nation via CareerCat (NACELink). If
you are a first time user, you will need to
complete the profile section. We will review
your profile, approve you as an employer, and
send you a password to use for posting internships
and jobs. This approval process will take one
business day.
2. iNet internship consortium. Post
your internships once and reach students throughout
the country at eight leading universities:
Georgetown, MIT, NYU, Northwestern, Rice, Stanford,
University of Pennsylvania and Yale. Go to
the iNet web page and post
your internships free of charge. iNet is
a partnership between NACElink and Symplicity
and the eight consortium universities. To open
an iNet account, go to https://inet-csm.symplicity.com/employers and
click the REGISTER tab. After completing the
short registration form you will be emailed
your user name and password.
3. To achieve the best recruiting
results regarding your family and home care needs
(i.e. child care, assistance with holiday dinners)
and or your part-time local needs (retail, clerical,
office), you may want to place an ad in The
Daily Northwestern, the student newspaper,
in addition to or in lieu of posting in the databases.
The telephone number to the ad office is 847-491-7206.

How to schedule on campus recruiting
visits
We want to make scheduling on campus recruiting
easy for you. All recruiting requests are taken
via e-mail (preferred), or telephone. Contact
Dianne Siekmann at ucs-recruiting@northwestern.edu or
at 847-491-5785 to begin the interview reservation
process. All recruiting requests are taken via
e-mail (preferred), or telephone. Inquiries should
have the following information:
- Three potential recruiting dates, with one
from another week – these dates should
be within our recruiting schedule
- The number of schedules/interview rooms
- The length of interviews ( 30 minutes, 45
minutes, 60 minutes)
- The number of administration rooms, if needed
- A concise and detailed job/internship description
which includes the following: the organization
overview, duties and responsibilities, and
preferred and required skills and abilities.
Our staff is available for assistance with
composing job/internship descriptions
- Special requirements: documents or recommendations
for the students such as GPA, transcript, standardized
scores, cover letters or other documents.
- Dates, time frames and room size for presentations
and/or pre-nights<hyperlink to Presentations
and Pre-nights>
After we receive your request, we will confirm
the recruiting dates, presentations and pre-nights,
and send you our Campus Recruiting Information
Form (CRIF) and the Recruiting Agreement.
Presentations/Information Sessions and
Pre-nights
Presentations are typically held three weeks
prior to on campus recruiting and before the
resume submission deadline. Pre-night information
sessions occur the night before the event.
The preferred location for these events is the Norris
University Center located at 1999 Campus
Drive. While there is no cost
for the use of the rooms, there is a cost to
order catering and AV equipment. You may ship
presentation and pre-night materials to Norris
University Center only if they arrive one day
prior to your event. Be certain to mark your
boxes with your organization’s name and
the date of your event.
Our students have given us feedback as to what
makes a successful
presentation.
