Alumni Service Packages
UCS Alumni Career Services offers a variety of service packages to meet your needs:
1. Alumni Job Search-CareerCat Advantage Package
For NU alumni focusing on a job search.
Service Fee: $30.00 for six months.
A. New Grad Advantage Package
For December 2011 Grads (for those who have completed a degree from NU in December 2011)
- Free access to job postings on CareerCat and NACE-Link through June 2012 (with possible extension through July 2012)
- Opportunity to take Career Assessments (Strong Interest Inventory and the MBTI) at no cost
- Access to employer presentations at NU
- Resume review and consultation
- Job search advice and strategies
- Invitations to and notifications of Job/Career Fairs
- Free access to the databases: "CareerSearch" [national database of employers, listing employers by industry, location, size, etc.] and "ArtSearch"
- E-newsletters for your area(s) of interest
- Access to FREE webinars/teleconferences

B. For ALL grads completing their degree over six months ago and focusing on a job search
- Includes password access to our job postings on CareerCat for 6 months. (Jobs are posted by employers who are seeking NU alumni).
- ALL employers are screened and approved by University Career Services.
- Only alumni CURRENTLY registered with UCS-alumni career services, or current NU full time matriculating students have access to these opportunities.
- You will receive our UCS Career Guide for 2010-12 (includes information on the job search process, resume and cover letter information, sample list of employers who attend our job fairs and recruit alumni, tips on interviewing and more!)
Need more help? Additional services and resources are available to you at no additional charge. These include:
- Resume review, advice and consultation (1-2 in-person or telephone sessions are included)
- One-on-one career consultations
- Any assistance regarding the job search process including: cover letter advice and review, how to conduct a job search, job search marketing strategies, job offer consultations, how to conduct a long-distance job search, returning to the job force strategies, access to UCS social media networks, and more
- Access to the password protected national employer database, "CareerSearch" (Outstanding resource for those looking to identify organizations allowing one to conduct a search by industry/competitors/location/size/title within a company.
- E-newsletters for your area(s) of interest
- Access to free webinars/teleconferences
- Use of our Career Information Center (including internet access, directories, career related publications, graduate and professional school information and resources, plus various free career related magazines/publications and more
- Email announcements on upcoming events including our job fairs hosted by UCS: Fall Expo, UCS Winter Expo and the MLK Public Service Job Fair (Held at Norris University Center for NU students & NU alumni), plus Virtual Job Fairs
- Email reminders on other career fairs including Big 10 Career Fairs
- Password access to resources including ArtSearch, Chronicle of Philanthropy, and more
2. The Career Assessment Package
For those who are interested in self-assessment and/or for those who are unclear about their career steps.
Service Fee: $125.00
- We offer two career assessments: The Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI) and The Strong Interest Inventory
- This package includes the administration of both assessments plus the interpretation of your results. You will also receive a 32 page booklet, "Introduction to Type in Organizations" providing extensive information on your particular MBTI type and how it relates to work environments
- Typically this process will include a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 in-person or telephone sessions
3. Combo Package
For NU Alumni seeking a combination of taking of career assessments along with a job search.
Service Fee: $155.00
- Service Package 1-B. (For ALL Grads completing their degree prior to December 2010 and focusing on a job search \ & The Career Assessment Package)
4. The Graduate and Professional School Consultation Package
Service Fee: None
- This package provides general advice and consultation in regards to applying to graduate programs, law school, medical school, or PhD programs
- Review of personal statement and/or resume for your application
- Email notifications/reminders of upcoming graduate/professional visits to NU as well as to graduate and professional school fairs held in various parts of the country
- Resources and Information for: Business School Resources for Alumni, Law School Resources for Alumni, Medical School Resources for Alumni, Graduate School Resources for Alumni, and PhD Program Resources for Alumni
5. File Services/Credential Services

6. Current or Returning Fellowship Recipients/AmeriCorps/Peace Corps Volunteers
Service Fee: None (for six months)
- Advice/Consultation as to how to best market yourself and your experiences

7. One-on-one Career Consultation Session – "Just need to talk package"
For those who may only need a one-time session to discuss their current job/career situation or concern.
Service Fee: None
Wildcat Tracks/Specialized Services to Specific Populations and Specific Career Needs (Tracks available within each of the Seven Service Packages Available listed previously)
- Graduate Degreed Alumni (for those with graduate or professional school degrees from NU or for those with undergraduate degrees from NU and graduate or professional degrees from other institutions (Master's, MBA, JD, Other)
- PhD Alumni Executive Level alumni with extensive experience in their field
- Women Returning to the Workforce (Specifically for women who took time away for family needs)
- Back to the Workforce (for anyone returning to the workforce after taking time off for personal reasons, family needs and responsibilities, traveling, etc.)
- Returning Veterans (addressing special needs and providing specialized resources)
- Alumni seeking only Part-time, Temporary, Freelance, and/or Contract work
- Performers/Writers/Creatives seeking job to support/supplement their creative endeavors
- Alumni Laid-off/downsized from position
