    FAQ's/Overview of Services for alumni

Who is eligible for UCS-Alumni Career Services?

Anyone who has graduated with a degree at the Bachelor's, Master's, and/or PhD level from Northwestern University is eligible for our services. Depending on your school within NU, there may be other services available to you. Alumni from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, the School of Law, and the School of Music may consult with their school for additional resources.

Do many alumni come back to UCS-Alumni Career Services for assistance?

There are between 400-600 alumni annually utilizing our services.

If I don't live near campus, can I still use the services?

Absolutely! Our alumni are located in all parts of the country. We also have some alumni currently living in other countries. All of our resources are available online including our exclusive job listings. Telephone sessions are available to those who wish to discuss their interests or job/career search. Telephone appointments are for those unable to physically come to our offices. Resumes may also be sent via email once registered for our services. For those in the area, we do offer evening hours while classes are in session. Providing telephone appointments and evening appointments works quite well for those out of town or who have a difficult schedule.

I am seeking a job in other parts of the country, not just the Chicago area, can you still help me?

Many of our jobs are in the Chicago area or Midwest area. We do, however, receive job listings from all areas of the country. Whether you are in another part of the country or are looking to relocate, we can provide you with services and resources to assist with your search. Employers who continue to recruit from Northwestern University are global.

It has been many years since I have graduated. Can you help me?

Yes. Our office continues to assist NU graduates from a wide range of graduation years. Graduation dates have ranged from the most recent graduation class to the late 1940's.

My situation is unique, is there someone I can talk to?

Yes, we provide confidential one-on-one consultation.

I am not sure if the services you provide are right for me. Is there someone I can talk to first?

We recommend that you first read through the information provided on our web pages for alumni. Hopefully, this will help you understand our services. If you still have some questions we can discuss this with you. Email: UCS-alumni@northwestern.edu

I completed an additional degree after graduating from NU - can I still use your services?

Yes, many of the alumni registered with us have completed additional degrees from other universities. These have included various Master degree programs, MBA's JD's, and PhD's.

    What industries do you serve?

Our office provides services to alumni seeking positions in all sectors and occupational areas. These include Engineering and Sciences, Non-Profit, Education, Social Service, Government, Communications, Media, Advertising, Marketing, and all areas of Business and Finance.

What if I just want to have access to the jobs and/or just explore opportunities?

That is fine. Many of our alumni like having access to the jobs to explore the market and stay current.
