Sexual Violence and Consent

An understanding of consent is vital to defining sexual violence and challenging rape culture. Current members and alumni of SHAPE (Sexual Health and Assault Peer Educators) have worked on this page to provide information about sexual violence, consent, and rape culture to members of the Northwestern community. There is much more to learn and take action about than included on this page, so please attend a SHAPE or CARE event or seek out more information in your community.

It is important to remember that no one deserves to be assaulted, and that members of the Northwestern community are responsible for their own actions and for ensuring consent is present in every interaction. CARE is dedicated to supporting students impacted by sexual assault and violence; schedule an appointment to talk to an advocate. We all play a role in promoting a culture of consent.
